AlpsHL: End of season for Kitzbühel & Bregenzerwald!

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors secured second place in the Master Round on Thursday with a comeback home win against Asiago. KHL Sisak secured the home advantage in the quarter-finals with an away win in Vipiteno. In addition, Hafro Cortina Hockey, HC Gherdeina and HC Meran/o Pircher also won their second pre-playoff games and thus completed the quarter-final field.

Master Round:
Red Bull Hockey Juniors – HC Migross Asiago 7:4 (0:1, 1:2, 6:1)
Asiago took the lead shortly before the first break and followed up after the restart. After the Juniors reduced the deficit, Chiodo restored the two-goal lead. In the final third, however, the home team impressively turned the game in their favor with six goals – Kogler, Maul and Juhola each scored a brace. With the 7:4 win, Salzburg secured second place in the Master Round.

Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan – KHL Sisak 3:4 (2:0, 0:2, 1:2)
Vipiteno got off to a better start, created numerous chances and went into the first break with a 2-0 lead. But within just 33 seconds, Sisak equalized with a double strike. Yeob turned the game in favor of the visitors at the start of the final third. Cianfrone equalized with his second goal, but shortly afterwards Marinkovic made the decision with the game winner. With the away win, Sisak secured the home advantage in the quarter-finals.

Pre-Playoffs:
Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel – HC Gherdeina valgardena.it 3:4 OT (2:1, 0:2, 1:0)
After winning the Qualification Round B, Val Gardena also prevailed in the pre-playoff against Kitzbühel. The Tyroleans got off to a much better start in the second duel – a brace in the tenth minute gave the hosts a 2-0 lead. But the South Tyroleans came close in the first third, equalized shortly after the restart, and Vozovik made it 2-3 in the 28th minute. In the final period, Fröwis equalized to 3-3, the game went into extra time, in which Deluca scored the decisive goal in the 65th minute.

EC Bregenzerwald – HC Meran/o Pircher 2:6 (0:1, 2:0, 0:5)
HC Meran/o Pircher also won the second pre-playoff duel with EC Bregenzerwald and is therefore in the quarter-finals. After the 4-2 home win, the South Tyroleans won 6-2 away on Thursday. Larcher opened the scoring late in the first third, but the home team turned the game around after the restart and went into the second break with a 2-1 lead. However, the guests dominated in the final third and took the lead again with two goals within eleven seconds. Gellon made the preliminary decision with his fourth goal, and in the end the result became even clearer.

Hafro Cortina Hockey completes the quarterfinals of the Alps Hockey League. After the away win in Klobenstein, head coach Gaber Glavic’s team also prevailed in the home game against Ritten. After a goalless first period, Sanna took the lead, and Chad Pietroniro increased before the second break. In the final period, a goal from Kostner briefly brought hope for the guests. But Chad Pietroniro first made the two-goal gap and later made the final score 4-1 with his third goal – an empty netter. Ritten missed the quarter-finals for only the second time after 2021.
