Reconstruction: Eight legionnaires are leaving HC Innsbruck!

After two disappointing seasons, the Innsbruck sharks-Boss Günther Hanschitz a clear line under the past.

Goal for the coming season ICE Hockey League is no longer the bottom of the table, but at least the fight for places seven to ten and thus qualification for the pre-playoff. Hanschitz compared to the “Crown newspaper“: “The top six are out of reach for us.”

There is a lot of renovation going on again

In order to achieve this turnaround, the squad is being significantly restructured: eight of eleven legionnaires are leaving the club. Just defenders Patrick Kudla, as well as the strikers Steven Owre and Sebastian Benker stay on board. Despite the limited budget, the overall quality of the imports should increase. Head coach Ryan Kinasewich is faced with the challenge of finding accurate reinforcements.

Financial scope remains tight, which is why the Sharks cannot compete for top Austrian stars. In the future, we will be relying even more on local players and the further development of our own squad. “In the current economic situation, we are happy to be able to hold our ground,” said the HCI boss.

The season ended for Innsbruck after a 4-1 defeat to the defending champions EC Red Bull Salzburg. Some players have already moved on: strikers Marcel Witting returned for the playoffs EC KAC back, while Benjamin Corbeil goes to the Ice Pirates Crimmitschau (DEL2) changed. Further personnel movements are still possible.
