The goalkeepers Rene Swette (37) and Thomas Höneckl (36) could actually reach the end of their active careers this season after years of playing in the ICEHL – that’s what “LAOLA” reports.
Both Swette from VSV and Höneckl from the Black Wings Linz are likely to end their careers after this season. In the past, Swette was often absent due to injuries. At Höneckl the trend is also downwards in terms of performance.
Both teams currently lack younger alternatives who could step in on a regular basis. At VSV there is hardly any trust in Lukas Moser, who is already 24 years old. At the Black Wings Linz, Martin Reder is the nominal third goalkeeper, who also hardly got any appearances.
In this gap, Jakob Brandner from HC Innsbruck could be an interesting option: The 24-year-old goalie is still contractually bound to Innsbruck, but according to “LAOLA” he is apparently no longer scheduled there. His few appearances this season were rather disappointing, but for VSV or the Black Wings Linz, Brandner could be an immediately available solution to strengthen the goalkeeper position.
