Olimpija Ljubljana ends Bolzano’s winning streak!

In the duel between their table neighbors from Laibach and Bozen, the Slovenians had the better end. In front of their home crowd, the Dragons won 4-3 after a penalty shootout. The Foxes’ winning streak ended after three recent successes en suite.

Olimpija Ljubljana celebrated a 4-3 shootout win against HCB Südtirol Alperia. The fifth-place team reduced the gap to fourth place to three points, but only lost one game and the direct duel, meaning fifth place is the maximum possible. Bozen got off to a better start and took the lead in the 10th minute with a shorthanded goal from Brad McClure. Two minutes later Ljubljana equalized and just two more minutes later Bolzano made it 2-1 again. In the 26th minute, TJ Brennan scored to equalize for Ljubljana. In the 51st minute, Rok Kapel gave the home team the lead for the first time, but Cole Schneider equalized 16 seconds before the end. Marcel Mahkovec scored the decisive penalty in the shootout.
