The Slovenian ICEHL team HK Olimpija Ljubljana has responded to the injury of its starting goalkeeper and signed an experienced NHL goalie. The 36-year-old Canadian Dustin Tokarski will guard the capital city goal from now on.
Tokarski brings a wealth of international experience to Ljubljana. The 2008 NHL Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning The selected goalkeeper played a total of 91 games in the NHL. Among other things, he stood for the Montreal Canadiens, Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo Sabres, Pittsburgh Penguins and the Carolina Hurricanes between the posts.
Tokarski spent most of his career in the AHL, where he established himself as a reliable backup. In the current season he was with the German first division club Lions Frankfurt under contract before moving to the win2day ICE Hockey League.
Olimpija is reacting to the injury of goalkeeper Lukaš Horák by signing him. Two game days before the end of the regular season, Olimpija is in fifth place in the ICEHL and is fighting for an optimal starting position for the playoffs. With Tokarski there should now be additional stability between the posts.
