On Wednesday, the Pioneers Vorarlberg will finally enter the home straight of the regular season. In the penultimate home game of the regular season, HC Falkensteiner Pustertal will be playing in the Vorarlberghalle. While the South Tyroleans have already qualified for the play-offs and can travel relaxed, the Pioneers want to present themselves positively again in front of their home crowd.
For the Pioneers Vorarlberg, an intense and anything but easy regular season is slowly coming to an end. The penultimate home game in the regular season is a moment for the team to thank their own supporters for their remarkable support over the past few months. The route for Wednesday is clear: with passion, fighting spirit and fast ice hockey, the points should stay in the country despite the decimated squad.
It will be decided at short notice whether head coach Johannes Nygard can rely on top scorer Collin Adams again for this game. The 27-year-old American’s deployment will be decided after pre-game training.
The “Wolves” won two of the previous three duels of the season, and the Pioneers won the last meeting on New Year’s Day in Brunico. With 6:5 after a penalty shootout, Macierzynski & Co got two points in a goal festival.
The “Pusterer” are currently in sixth place in the table (79 points), an improvement to fifth place would still be possible in the remaining three games. As already mentioned, the objective from the PIV perspective is clear, even if nothing will change in the table. The Nygard Cracks have delivered good performances several times on their own ice, and should also do this in the last two home games if possible.
