The reigning champions from Zell am See also won their fourth game in the Master Round on Saturday. While the Red Bull Hockey Juniors maintained second place, Meran secured a ticket for the pre-playoffs in the qualifying group. Val Gardena continued its successful run, Bregenzerwald and Kitzbühel improved in the table.
Master Round
Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan – Red Bull Hockey Juniors 1:3 (0:1, 0:0, 1:2)
Eliseev gave the Juniors the lead in the first third. After a goalless middle third, Juhola increased the score to 2-0 in the final period. Cianfrone reduced the deficit for the Broncos before Auer made the final score 3-1 with a goal into the empty net in the last second. While the Wipptalers remain in last place in the Master Round, the Juniors secured second place.
EK Die Zeller Eisbären – HC Migross Asiago 5:2 (2:0, 1:1, 2:1)
Zell am See remains undefeated in the second round. The reigning champions celebrated their fourth win in a row. Captain Wilfan gave the home team an early lead, and Putnik followed up with a brace. Although the Italians came close at times, the Pinzgauers pulled away again and won comfortably 5-2. Zell am See is now five points ahead of first place, Asiago remains fourth.
Qualification Round A
HC Meran/o Pircher – Hockey Unterland Cavaliers 4:2 (1:2, 1:0, 2:0)
Meran celebrated its third win in a row and thus secured participation in the pre-playoffs. Unterland took the lead early on and continued to lead even after the equaliser. The home team equalized in the middle third before Gellon took the lead for the first time in the 47th minute. Shortly before the end he scored the final score with an empty net goal. Due to the defeat, Unterland slipped back to last place.
Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel – SG Cortina Hafro 6:3 (1:2, 2:0, 3:1)
Kitzbühel had its back to the wall before and at the start of the game, but fought back impressively. After 14 minutes, Cortina was 2-0 ahead, but Ketonen shortened the lead in the first third. The Tyroleans turned the game around in the middle period and extended their lead in the final third with goals from Engelhart, Hochfilzer and Wetzl. With this success, the Austrians improved to second place and are now one place ahead of Cortina.
Qualification Round B
Rittner Buam SkyAlps – EC Bregenzerwald 5:6 nV (0:3, 3:0, 2:2)
Both teams fought a varied duel. The guests got off to a furious start and led 2-0 after just two minutes, then 3-0 in the 15th minute. A strong power play brought Ritten back into the game in the second period: Alderson and twice Kostner equalized to 3:3. In the final third the home team even pulled away to 5:3 before two power-play goals from Rantanen saved Bregenzerwald in overtime. There, Kauppila secured the guests a 6-5 victory after just 50 seconds. The ECB thus improved to third place.
HDD Jesenice – HC Gherdeina valgardena.it 0:2 (0:0, 0:0, 0:2)
Val Gardena celebrated its fourth victory in the fourth game of the intermediate round. Jesenice had more of the game in the first two thirds, but could not overcome goalie Endre. The Swede saved 32 shots and celebrated a shutout. Schiavone took the lead in the 49th minute, shortly afterwards Pitschieler increased the score to 2-0 in the power play. The Slovenians slipped to fourth place in the table.
