End of season due to injury for ICEHL defenders!

The last long away trip of the season awaits the Pioneers Vorarlberg; on the third-to-last matchday of the regular season, captain Macierzynski & Co will meet Villach away.

While the Montfortstadt team came out of the Olympic break with two defeats, the Adler were able to win their last game. On Friday, Villach won 4-3 after a penalty shootout against series champions Salzburg.

In the three duels of the season so far, the home team has always left the ice as the winner. In the first game in Villach in October, the VSV won 5:2, in the Vorarlberghalle the Pioneers secured all three points (5:4 and 4:1).

With the win on Friday, the Carinthians were able to secure two important points in the fight for a place in the pre-play-off and are currently eighth in the table with 60 points after 45 games played. This means that the VSV is seven points ahead of yesterday’s PIV opponent FTC Telekom from Budapest. Things are looking very good for Guus van Nes & Co with their participation in the pre-play-offs of the win2day ICE Hockey League.

For the Pioneers, on the other hand, the remaining games are mainly about finishing the regular season with positive results; nothing will change in twelfth place in the table.

Unfortunately, staffing levels continue to shrink. Leo Woborsky is out for the rest of the season with an upper body injury. Collin Adams is also not available for the game against VSV. Whether he will play at the next home game on February 25th. The coming days will decide whether he will be back in the lineup.
