The KAC celebrates a narrow 2-0 home win in the game against Olimpija Ljubljana. The red jackets thus consolidate first place in the table.
The EC-KAC defeated Olimpija Ljubljana 2-0 in a hard-fought encounter with a lot of playoff character and thus further extended its lead in the win2day ICE Hockey League. At first the goals seemed to be nailed down: Despite numerous chances on both sides, both goalies remained undefeated in the first 40 minutes.
In the final section, an intense battle developed by hook or by crook with numerous penalty minutes. So it was finally a power play by the EC-KAC that led to the first goal: KAC top scorer Mathias From shot from the right of center and caused the Heidi Horten Arena to shake. After the “Green Dragons” fell behind, the game became even more intense, but the equalizer was not achieved. Instead, Josh Teves made the decision with an empty-net goal 35 seconds before the end.
With this success, the Klagenfurt team extended their lead in the table to four points and secured home advantage in the quarter-finals. Olimpija Ljubljana, on the other hand, had to give up fourth place in the table to HCB Südtirol Alperia.
