ICEHL: The KAC returns from the Olympic break without three cracks

The EC-KAC returns to ICE play on Friday with the home game against Olimpija Ljubljana from the almost three-week Olympic break. The KAC summarizes the most important details about the duel between the two most offensive teams in the league on www.kac.at as follows.

After a 19-day break due to the Winter Olympics, the EC-KAC (30 wins, 13 defeats) will start the final spurt of the basic round of the win2day ICE Hockey League on Friday, February 20, 2026. The Red Jackets welcome the current fourth-placed team, the Olimpija Ljubljana team (28 wins, 16 defeats), in the Heidi Horten Arena, which will almost certainly be sold out. The match starts at 7.15 p.m. and will be streamed live as usual on Sporteurope.TV.

The EC-KAC returns on Friday from the 19-day league break on the occasion of the Winter Olympics. In the week before the break, Red-White recorded six largely safe points in the home games against Budapest (5:2) and Linz (4:0). The Carinthians, who have already qualified for the playoffs since January 18th, can reach another milestone in the regular season finish on Friday: every point they win secures them home advantage in the playoff quarter-finals. With 3.53 goals scored from play per game this season, the EC-KAC currently has the second-best offense in the win2day ICE Hockey League. Things have been going very well for the Red Jackets on their own ice in the past few weeks and months: They scored points in 17 of their last 18 home games and only came away completely empty-handed during this period against defending champions Salzburg. In front of their own crowd, the Klagenfurt team set the course in a positive direction for them early on: in only three of 21 matches in the Heidi Horten Arena the home team were behind after the first half, and it was precisely those three games that resulted in the only home defeats in regular time.

KAC returns from the Olympic break without three cracks

In addition to the long-term absences of Thomas Hundertpfund (end of season) and Luka Gomboc, the EC-KAC is only missing defender Maximilian Preiml, who is serving the last game of his suspension, for the restart after the Olympic break. David Maier, who missed the last seven games due to a lower body injury, will return to the red and white lineup. Denmark’s captain for the Olympic ice hockey tournament, Jesper Jensen Aabo, should also be in the squad. He returns to Klagenfurt from Milan/Milan on Thursday and will join the team again for the morning skate on match day.
