As the “Kronen Zeitung” reports, VSV is about to sign national team defender Michael Kernberger. The 29-year-old from Klagenfurt, currently with the Pioneers Vorarlberg under contract, should join the traditional Villach club for the decisive phase.
This transfer is made possible by a special rule introduced this year because of the Olympic Games: clubs are allowed to replace injured players until March 2nd. At VSV this affects defenders Steven Strongwhich continues to fail. Kernberger would therefore be hired as a defensive substitute and give VSV additional stability and experience. To date, Kernberger has played for the Graz99ers, the KAC, the Black Wings Linz and the Pioneers Vorarlberg and therefore has plenty of ICEHL experience.
