At the age of 34, Simon Despres returns to Europe after a short interlude in Canada. He moves to the island again.
Despres took the plunge across the pond for the first time in 2017 and joined Slovan Bratislava. In 2022 he played for EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV and was used in 43 games – he scored 15 points. After one season, the 193-time NHL star and the Carinthian team parted ways.
The defender spent the last two seasons in the EIHL, where he played for the Panthers from Nottingham and for the Glasgow Clan. This year he started the season in the Lige Nord-Americaine de Hockey (LNAH), founded in 2004, where he went on the ice for Saint-Hyacinthe Bataillon. Despres is now returning to Scotland and will now lace up his skates for the Fife Flyers.
