The Vienna Capitals had to accept a 1: 3 defeat against Master Red Bull Salzburg at home. Despite the disappointing result, Head Coach Gerry Fleming emphasized the positive aspects of his team’s performance after the game.
“We did a lot right today. Especially in the first third, our defensive allocation was pretty good, so the game was balanced in my opinion,” said Fleming. The caps kept with it over long distances before the decisive mistakes happened in the second third. “In the second third we came under pressure and did not do a favor with inexplicit mistakes.”
In the last section, however, the Viennese showed morality and also found better into the game with the goal of Sam Antonitsch: “In the final third we showed our best game. We were close to hits a few times. In the last third, everyone increased on that,” said Fleming.
Shimmer of hope despite defeat
The coach particularly emphasized the use of its players: “We have some good characters in the team that simply don’t get stuck. From today’s game we take some valuable lessons with us again.”
