Top defender Brennan: “My main goal is to lead Ljubljana to a title”

Olimpija Ljubljana started with a real exclamation mark into the new season of the Win2day Ice Hockey League. After two match days, the Slovenes with a total score of 15: 3 are at the top of the table – also thanks to new signing TJ Brennan. The American who celebrates his comeback in the ICE after a few years shone with six points from the first two games.

“It was a great start for our team, of course we are happy with the results,” said Brennan. “We are a confident group that goes into every game with the belief that we can win. Therefore it is not a big surprise for us – but we want to build on this foundation.”

For the 34-year-old defender, the return to Central Europe is a special step: “I am happy to be back in Win2day Ice Hockey League. I had a great experience in the league a few years ago and have always followed it since then. It is nice to play again in such a competitive league and to be part of an organization that is in the upswing.”

Brennan also personally linked the old days. In his first ICE season 2019/20 for Salzburg, he brought it to 59 points-a brand that, despite his strong start, does not focus on: “Of course it is nice to score early in the season. But my main goal is to lead Ljubljana to a title. My focus is on that.”

The next challenge is waiting for the Moser Medical Graz99ers and the Pioneers Vorarlberg this coming weekend. “It will be a real test for us,” said Brennan. “Both teams work hard, we prepare ourselves all week.
