Vienna Capital’s newcomer to “homecoming”!

Born in Vienna, Sam Antonitsch can look back on a long career in the home league at the age of 29. In the coming season, the striker will be running for his fifth ICE club.

The adventure in the multinational league began in 2017 when Antonitsch found its way back to Austria after three years in the USA. In the Dress of the EC VSV, he made his debut at EBEL level and came to seven points in 53 missions. He spent the following season at HC Innsbruck before he was largely for the Bulldogs from Dornbirn in 2019/20. Operations in the Alps Hockey League were also on the program.

In 2022 the move to Styria followed, Antonitsch spent three seasons at the Moser Medical Graz99ers and came to 43 scorer points in 132 versions. But after the end of the past season, the collaboration ended and Antonitsch was allowed to look for a new employer.

So now a kind of “homecoming” is on the program. “When I was small, we often went with the family in Vienna. Mostly, of course, when the caps played against Villach. Contrary to the ideas of Papa and Grandpa, I did not think of VSV, but to caps,” the striker told the
Kronen Zeitung. “For me, a dream has come true for me. I can finally play ice hockey at home.”

Antonitsch, who already has 352 icenses on his hump, of course also gained his experiences in tennis, but he felt more and more comfortable in team sports. He sees it as a clear advantage that father Alex Antonitsch himself worked in professional sports for many years. With fresh wind you want to go up again in Vienna this year. There are many new faces with the Kagraners this year: “The largest challenge will be to quickly become a team. If that succeeds, it can go up.”
