Rumor: Next Canadian defender before moving to the ICEHL?

The next North American could soon be playing in Italy: According to his player agency “9 Hockey Management”, defender Dylan Schives is about to move to Italy.

It is still unclear in which league the 24-year-old right-wing shooter will play in the future. Both a commitment to the ICEHL – for example at HC Bozen or HC Pustertal – and a move to the AlpsHL are currently considered possible.

Strong season in Canada

Schives drew attention to himself last season with strong performances in USports ice hockey. For the University of Windsor, the offensive defender collected a strong 24 points in 28 games, making him one of the most productive defenders in the league.

Particularly noticeable: The Canadian scored twelve goals and impressed with his offensive drive and good qualities in building up the game. For his achievements, Schives was also elected to the “OUA West Second All-Star Team”.

Experience from several top junior leagues

Before his time in university ice hockey, Schives already gained experience in several top North American leagues. Among other things, he played in the QMJHL for the Québec Remparts and Baie-Comeau Drakkar. The 1.80 meter tall defender also knew how to impress offensively in the BCHL.

Due to his training, the right-handed shooter is considered a modern two-way defender with good skating and strong target control.

Italy as the next career step?

Now the jump to Europe could follow for the first time – Italy is considered a realistic destination. Whether the Canadian will play in the ICEHL or AlpsHL in the future will likely be decided in the coming weeks.
