There was great concern for Thomas Hundredpound. After his cruciate ligament tear in mid-December, there was even talk of a possible end to the KAC captain’s career. However, there are now positive signals: The 36-year-old is working intensively on his comeback and is optimistic about the new season.
As the “Krone” reports, the Red Jackets’ crowd favorite has been in rehab for months and is making progress. Particularly noteworthy: Despite the serious injury, Hundredpound is by no means thinking of quitting – on the contrary. The experienced attacker is eager to attack again.
1000 game milestone as a great motivation
An important factor may also be a very specific goal. Hundredpound currently has 959 league games and could crack the magical mark of 1000 appearances next season.
This milestone seems to give the long-time KAC leader even more motivation. Internally, it was recently considered likely that the Carinthian would not end his career yet.
Comeback after serious injury
A torn cruciate ligament is one of the most serious injuries of all, especially at an advanced ice hockey age. What makes it all the more remarkable is the ambition with which Hundredpfund is working on his comeback.
The striker has been one of the KAC’s identification figures for years and enjoys an extremely high status among fans and the club. The importance of a successful return to the ice would be correspondingly great.
Future still open
Even if the signs are currently positive, it remains to be seen how the veteran’s body will react to the strain. But one thing is already clear: Hundredpound has fought back impressively after his serious injury – and the hope of a comeback is alive.
