The former ICEHL defender
Stefan Espeland
has ended his active career. The offensive defender looks back on a long international career that took him to Sweden, Germany, Finland and Austria, among others.
Short guest appearance in Salzburg
In February 2021, Espeland moved from the
Polar Bears Berlin to Salzburg. There, the Norwegian only played seven games in the regular season and eleven playoff games for the Red Bulls.
Despite the short time, the defender made an impression. With his overview, his qualities in the power play and his offensive style of play, Espeland brought additional creativity to Salzburg’s defense. In total, he collected ten scorer points in his short ICEHL time for Salzburg.

Espeland had already played in Austria for the first time a few years earlier. He got him at the end of 2017

The Norwegian played twelve league games for Klagenfurt and scored four points. However, Espeland did not stay with the record champions for long; he returned to Norway in February 2018

Successful last years in Norway
After his time in Austria, Espeland played successfully in his homeland again. At first he played again for Vålerenga, later he moved to
Storhamar.
The defender has continued to be one of the best offensive defenders in the Norwegian league in recent years. With Storhamar he won several championship titles and impressed with strong scores even at an advanced age in ice hockey. Now the 37-year-old is ending his career.
