AlpsHL: Two long-term polar bears leave Zell am See!

Every farewell is difficult – and today we unfortunately have to say goodbye to two players who have been important parts of the Zeller Eisbären in recent years.

After long and intensive considerations, the club management has decided not to make a new contract offer to Nick Huard. The club management would also like to rely on a breath of fresh air and a younger team in the future.

The 35-year-old showed an excellent basic performance in his first season in 2023/24 before he was sidelined at the beginning of February due to a serious lower-body injury and unfortunately was unable to finish the season. In the 2024/25 season, Nick, along with Berger and Putnik, was one of only three players who played all games. At the beginning of the 2025/26 season, Nick had to undergo another operation on his lower body and was out for six weeks.

Bernhard Fechtig was also very unlucky with injuries last season and had to take a break three times due to various injuries. The 33-year-old from Vorarlberg also impressed on a character level and was an important building block in the last three seasons.

Both athletes have contributed enormously to the team’s success with their commitment, their humanity and their quality. The Zeller Eisbären would like to thank you very much for your efforts in the Eisbären dress and wish you all the best for your future journey – both in terms of sport and in your private life.

Squad planning for the coming season is already well advanced and is proceeding according to the wishes of the club management. The next enforcement reports will follow this week.
