Red Bull Salute enters its 19th edition!

The tradition lives on: The international invitation tournament “Red Bulls Salute” is in its 19th edition and is once again inviting top international teams to Zell am See-Kaprun from August 21st to 22nd for the first ice hockey highlight of the new season. Advance ticket sales for the tournament are now open.

Four participants from four nations

The tournament format with four strong international participants has proven itself. In August 2026, two teams from major European ice hockey nations will once again be at the Red Bulls Salute in Zell am See alongside the hosts EC Red Bull Salzburg and EHC Red Bull Munich: EHC Biel-Bienne from Switzerland and HC Dynamo Pardubice. As in the last three years, the game will be played in the KE KELIT Arena, the home of EK Die Zeller Eisbären, which offers space for 2,600 spectators.

Red Bull duel on the first match day

While the two Red Bull teams from Salzburg and Munich have always played the semi-finals on the first match day parallel to each other, this year there will be a big brother duel in the semi-finals (August 21st, 7:30 p.m.). The first semi-final (4:00 p.m.) will be played by EHC Biel-Bienne and HC Dynamo Pardubice. The winners of the two semi-final games will fight for tournament victory in the final on August 22nd at 7:00 p.m. Before that, the game for third place will take place at 3 p.m.

The game plan

The participants

EHC Biel-Bienne plays in the highest ice hockey league in Switzerland, the National League. The club, founded in 1939, can boast three championship titles from 1978, 1981 and 1983. In the last season 2025/26, the club reached the pre-playoffs with 10th place after the main round, but missed out on making it to the playoff quarter-finals.

With HC Dynamo Pardubice, a newly crowned champion is coming to the Red Bulls Salute 2026. The club, founded in 1925, was crowned Czech champion a total of seven times (1973, 1987, 1989, 2005, 2010, 2012 and 2026) and this year brought the title back to Pardubice after 14 years. Last year, in the 2024/25 season, Pardubice lost to Kometa Brno after a close final series.

Red Bull Munich has already won the German championship four times. From 2016 to 2018, Bayern pulled off a three-peat in the PENNY DEL, followed by the fourth strike in 2023. This year the final stop was in the semi-finals. One of the greatest international successes is reaching the final of the CHL 2018/19. Red Bull Munich has been taking part in the Red Bulls Salute since 2017 and has already won the tournament twice.

With ten titles, EC Red Bull Salzburg is the most successful team in the win2day ICE Hockey League. In 2024/25, Salzburg wrote history and won the title four times in a row for the first time after the first three-peat (2023/24). In the most recent 2025/26 season, they were eliminated in the quarter-finals. The Red Bulls Salute is inextricably linked to Salzburg; they have won the tournament twice so far.

The tradition continues

The “Red Bulls Salute” was held from 2005 to 2013 as an international invitational tournament for top European teams. The crowning exception in 2007 was the participation of the two-time Stanley Cup winner and tournament winner Los Angeles Kings. From 2010 it served as the final tournament of the European Trophy, but then gave way to the newly founded Champions Hockey League (CHL) in 2014. The sequel followed in 2017 after a four-year break. Since then, the format has had a permanent place in the ice hockey calendar in the tried and tested format with four participants.
