Cooperation between VSV & Zell am See is being expanded!

The EK Zeller Eisbären and the EC Villacher SV have agreed to further expand the existing collaboration. Like last year, there will be an A pool of players who will be permanently stationed in Zell am See and a B pool of players who will only appear in Zell am See if necessary.

The strikers Jakob Sintschnig (192cm/98kg) and Kevin Mandl (181cm/78kg), as well as the 185cm tall and 93kg defender Paul Vaschauner, who is also a right-hand shooter, will be permanently stationed in Zell am See. All three were born in 2007 or younger and therefore count as U20 players. Due to the Alps Hockey League regulation, which states that three U22 players and at least one U20 player must be in the line-up next season, the boys will have valuable ice time for their further development in the coming season.

The aim is to give the young players in the AHL as much ice time as possible and to prepare them for the next step – the jump to the win2day ICE Hockey League. Julian Raspotnig, Johannes Tschurnig and Paolo Wieltschnig are reported in the B pool. The three players are planned for Villach, but can also be used for the Zeller Eisbären if necessary.

The focus is on individual development. The coaches of both clubs are in constant communication and decide on assignments depending on the situation. There is no plan for the players to constantly commute; rather, the aim is to create a stable team structure with sustainable development potential.

STATEMENTS

Eisbären Managing Director Patrick Schwarz: “The collaboration with the EC VSV worked well for the most part last season and gives us the necessary squad depth. The VSV has always supported us even in phases of extreme staff shortages. The EKZ is not a classic training club, it specifically develops well-trained young players and gives them the chance to prove themselves at the best possible level for higher tasks. In recent years, numerous players have taken the next step through the EKZ – be it abroad or in the ICE Hockey League. Recommended: With Sintschnig, Mandl and Vaschauner, we have three U20 players who are scheduled to play in Zell am See. All three have the potential to perform at Alps Hockey League level and take the next step here. A special thank you to Marco Pewal, Herbert Hohenberger and Martin Winkler for the very good discussions. We look forward to taking the next steps together.

EC iDM VSV Managing Director Martin Winkler: “For us, the collaboration with the Zeller Eisbären is an important building block in the development of our young players. The Zell am See location stands for training, ambition and a winning mentality – values that fit perfectly with our philosophy at EC iDM Heat Pumps VSV. The proximity to Villach and the excellent infrastructure create optimal conditions and enable a close exchange between both organizations. There was a very professional and trusting basis for discussions with managing director Patrick Schwarz and head coach Marcel Rodman right from the start.

Marco Pewal, Herbert Hohenberger and I were able to get an idea of the professional environment in Zell several times last season and hope for a great collaboration in the coming years. The step from the U20 to the fighting team is becoming increasingly difficult in modern ice hockey. That’s exactly why the Alps Hockey League is the ideal platform to introduce young players to adult ice hockey. There you get ice time, responsibility and the chance to recommend yourself for higher tasks. A very good example of this was Nico Uschan, who returned to us over the course of the season and was able to help us in an important phase at the end of the season. Together we want to offer our talents the best possible conditions for the next career step.”
