He has been a fixture in the Zeller defense and Mister Reliable over the last five years. Max Egger is ending his career as a professional ice hockey player and will pursue new professional paths. We would like to thank you for your constant commitment and wish you all the best in your future journey.
Maximilian Egger moved to EKZ in the summer of 2021 and immediately established himself as a regular player in the team. 5 years later, after 228 competitive games, 10 goals, 35 assists, +35 and three titles, this chapter ends.
Important team player
The number 59 was not above any work and was a real rascal in front of his own goal. He liked to play hard and showed good positional play as well as skating skills. While other players were allowed to shine up front, he kept their backs free and defended rock solidly at the back. The left-handed shooter was also usually one of the first when it came to defending his own goalie or blocking rebounds. In short: a defender that every team needs – not always in the spotlight, but extremely valuable for the team.
He played a key role in three titles, the Austrian championship twice, and last year he achieved a really big coup with the Alps Hockey League title. Egger has always been a regular player over the years, thoroughly reliable and rarely injured. He also left his mark away from the ice, made many friends in Pinzgau and made an impression with his reflective character. Even though farewells always hurt, we can look back on a great time together, marked by many successes and few disappointments. All that remains is to wish Maximilian Egger all the best for his future.
Statements
Maximilian Egger: “It’s not that easy to summarize it in a few words. I came to Zell am See, with other players like Christian Jennes, for example – we were all in the same situation. We found a safe haven here in Zell am See, where we enjoyed the sport again. That’s how we became very successful because we just really enjoyed playing for the club. I can only say for myself: it meant everything to me to play for the club, to walk into the hall and then before 2000 or more The appreciation that I was shown here was an incredible feeling and I can only thank the board and the coaches for putting up with my moods, even if I wasn’t always the easiest. And of course I can’t thank all the employees who always worked for us, who made everything possible. I will really miss that. Zell am See is a very special place for me and it was a very special time.”
Managing Director Patrick Schwarz: “Maxi Egger has been an integral part of our team since we returned to the Alps Hockey League in 2021 and has been one of the decisive foundations for the successes of the past few years. Max has always given everything for the club and has always put himself at the service of the team – often even with injuries. On behalf of the entire board, I would like to thank Max from the bottom of my heart and wish him only the best for his future. I can assure him of one thing with full confidence: every time we think of him, we become two Austrian championships and winning the Alps Hockey League – successes that no one can take away from us THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING MAX!”
