After a top season: Ex-Capitals striker moves within the league!

The former striker of the
Vienna Capitals
Brett Kemp, continues his career in Germany. The Canadian attacker is moving from the league within the league
Bietigheim Steelers

to
Düsseldorfer EC
and signs a contract there until 2027.

Outstanding season in Bietigheim

Kemp was one of the most striking offensive players in the league in the last DEL2 season. In 60 main round games, the 26-year-old collected a strong 77 scorer points and led the Steelers to the semi-finals of the playoffs. There he added another 14 points in twelve games and confirmed his strong form in the decisive phase of the season.

With a total of 32 goals and 45 assists, the right-handed shooter was his team’s second-best scorer and thus also made himself interesting for higher-class clubs.

DEG relies on offensive quality

Athletic director Rich Chernomaz particularly praised Kemp’s technical skills and game intelligence. The center is considered a strong skater who can both score goals and create opportunities for teammates.

With the signing of the Canadian, Düsseldorfer EG is further expanding its squad for the 2026/27 season. Kemp is already the fifth contingent player in the new squad.

Short guest appearance in Vienna

Before moving to Germany, Kemp played for the Vienna Capitals in the ICEHL in the 2024/25 season. In Vienna, the attacker got nine points in 21 games before taking the step into the DEL2.
