Transfer rumor: US defender approaching the ICEHL?

are facing a move to Europe – with the ICEHL as a likely destination.

Strong two-way defender from North America

The 28-year-old right-shooter comes from Hinsdale, Illinois and brings extensive experience in North American professional ice hockey. Swoyer most recently played for the
Toledo Walleye
in the

ECHL
where he was able to present himself primarily as an offensive defender. In the 2025/26 season he collected 20 points in 46 games, after he had already managed a strong 33 points in 59 games the year before. The defender also impressed with several assists in the playoffs.

In addition, Swoyer received assignments from the
Cleveland Monsters
in the
American Hockey League
and thus gained further experience at a higher level.

Successful years in the NCAA

Before switching to professional ice hockey, Swoyer played for four years
Michigan Tech Huskies

in the NCAA. There he continuously developed into an important top performer and achieved a total of 72 points in 141 games. The American drew attention to himself with strong performances, particularly in his last two years of college, and was elected to his conference’s All-Star teams in both 2020/21 and 2021/22.
