Farewell after title? Graz99ers coach could change within the league!

Most recently, Nate DiCasmirro celebrated the championship title in the win2day ICE Hockey League with the Moser Medical Graz99ers. But could the Canadian leave the reigning champion again?

DiCasmirro worked for the Styrians as an assistant coach for the last two years and celebrated the first championship title in the 99ers club history a few days ago.

Lots of experience as a player

DiCasmirro knows the league, especially as a player: the 47-year-old played 79 games for VSV and HC Bozen. He spent many years in the Italian league and, in his last active year, with the KAC Alps Hockey League team.

After the end of his active career, DiCasmirro took over the position of assistant coach for the Red Jackets’ two-man team. But after just one season it was over again. After a few years in the USA and a stint with the Austrian U20, the Graz99ers brought the former striker on board in 2024.

Reunion at Lake Wörthersee?

As the “Crown newspaper” reports, the KAC has put out feelers to DiCasmirro to inherit David Fischer, who left the club a few weeks ago. 99ers sports director Philipp Pinter is not necessarily surprised by the interest from the Red Jackets: “The two are close together. Nate told us that there is interest from Klagenfurt.” Nevertheless, they would like to keep the coaching team consisting of Dan Lacroix and Nate DiCasmirro.

At the KAC, filling this vacant position is clearly a priority, even if there are still some other personnel decisions to be made: “Before we make any further decisions, a new assistant coach is our priority. But we haven’t decided yet,” said KAC GM Oliver Pilloni.
