Against Germany, head coach Roger Bader will have to do without David Maier, who is a bit ailing and is due to rejoin the national team next week. In addition, David Waschnig and Felix Koschek have left the current squad. On Thursday morning, three players from win2day ICE Hockey League champions Moser Medical Graz99ers will be coming in: Paul Stapelfeldt, Lenz Moosbrugger and Tim Harnisch.
“The three will train with the team on Thursday and Friday and play against Germany on Saturday. Paul Stapelfeldt has already completed two World Cups, Lenz Moosbrugger and Tim Harnisch should try to take advantage of their chance,” reveals Head coach Roger Bader. The Swiss is also expecting Paul Huber for the final week of preparation for the World Cup in Klagenfurt.
Last week against the Czech Republic they were still busy defending, but against Germany they want to be more active in the offensive zone again. Our neighbors are currently missing the players from the two DEL finalists Adler Mannheim and Eisbären Berlin, as well as their players from the NHL. But that shouldn’t diminish the squad in any way, Head coach Roger Bader: “They already have a good team, even if they are still missing a few players to make it to the World Cup team. Nevertheless, they are a strong opponent, perfect for us at this point in time. I want to see my team implement what we have rehearsed in training. In contrast to the Czech Republic last week, we hope to create more offense again. Germany is a good team that plays with pressure and that is a good thing. We want opponents who get used to the level that will be required at the World Cup is.”
