The Ravensburg Towerstars have found what they are looking for in their search for a new head coach: Johan Pennerborn is taking over the position, succeeding Bo Subr, who left the club for Dresden.
International experience as a decisive factor
With Pennerborn, a coach comes to Upper Swabia who can look back on a remarkable international career. His time at the traditional Swedish club Färjestad BK was particularly formative, where he worked his way up from youth and assistant coach to head coach of the professional team. Under his leadership, the team was one of the top teams in the league and, among other things, took first and second places in the main round.
Station in Graz as an important step
Pennerborn is also no stranger to German-speaking countries. Between 2022 and 2024 he was behind the boards for the Graz99ers in the ICE Hockey League and gained valuable experience there. After a subsequent stint in Finland at JYP Jyväskylä, where he was the first foreign coach in the club’s history, the Swede took a break for family reasons.
Restart in the DEL2
Now comes the next step in his career: Pennerborn is taking over a club in Germany for the first time. Those responsible at Ravensburg Towerstars are convinced of their choice. Sports director Marius Riedel emphasized that they consciously took their time with the decision and that Pennerborn was completely convinced both professionally and personally.
