The next Pioneers crack leaves Vorarlberg – Linz extends with youngster!

The Steinbach Black Wings Linz secure the services of two other local players. Defender Christoph Tialler has extended his contract with Linz for a fourth season. With Marlon Tschofen, an ambitious striker is moving from the Pioneers to the Untere Donaulände.

With Christoph Tialler, the Stahlstadters continue to have an up-and-coming defender in their ranks. The right-wing shooter, born in 2003, comes from the EC KAC’s offspring and went through all levels of training in Klagenfurt. Through the Alps Hockey League and his first appearances at ICEHL level, the Carinthian finally found his way to new tasks and found his way to Linz, where he has since taken the next steps in his development. In the 2025/26 season, Tialler made 33 appearances in the win2day ICE Hockey League and contributed two goals and one assist. One of his two goals in particular was decisive: in the 2-0 away win against the Pioneers Vorarlberg, the defender scored the opening goal and at the same time the game-winning goal for Linz. However, his strengths still clearly lie in his own zone. With calm positional play, physical presence and increasing maturity in building up the game, the defender developed into a reliable support in the Linz defense over the course of the season. He self-sacrificingly threw himself into ten opposing shots in order to defuse the puck in front of his own goal. The Carinthian native was also able to improve his plus/minus balance compared to the previous year and achieved a +2. In addition to the important extension of their Austrian tribe, the Steinbach Black Wings are also happy about their first red-white-red addition.

24-year-old Marlon Tschofen is joining the Stahlstadters after his season with the highest points in the win2day ICE Hockey League. The attacker scored five goals and five assists in his second professional season in 2025/26 with the Pioneers Vorarlberg. In the penultimate league table of the past championship, he was one of the big bright spots as a leader in the third formation and in the power play. In the second direct duel with the Upper Austrians, he represented his current employer with a goal and an assist. In total, the right-wing shooter can point to exactly 99 appearances in the country’s top division. Aside from that, the 1.82 meter tall newcomer showed strong development at EC Bregenzerwald in the Alps Hockey League. In 114 games he collected 65 points and celebrated 22 goals of his own.

The Vorarlberg native, like Christoph Tialler, signed an annual contract with the Steinbach Black Wings Linz and will wear shirt number 91.
