“Both called me personally and informed me that they would be out for the World Cup. That’s a shame, of course, but it doesn’t change our goals. We wish both of them that they can recover well in the coming months and have a strong 2026/2027 season,” explains Head coach Roger Bader.
“It was a very exciting season this year and also a very strenuous one. It certainly wasn’t easy. I broke my foot in October and then it was a hard and difficult season to play through that. After a while I couldn’t continue playing with the break, had to take a long break, came back, was traded and then injured myself again in the same place. That was really very hard and not easy. It’s a real shame that I’m not at 100 percent. The The World Cup with the national team would certainly have been a highlight, especially in Zurich, where I spent many years of my youth. It’s a shame, but health always comes first.
Of course, I wish the team only the best and will of course follow the games. The team’s first goal is to stay in the league. We have proven in recent years that we can be at the top of the top division, can compete and can cause surprises. That’s why I think it’s important that we go out with a lot of pride and passion and show that we are also good ice hockey players. For me now it’s time to regenerate, to get away from ice hockey, away from skating, so that I’m fit again. I don’t know how long it will take, but hopefully it will be quick so that I’m back to 100 percent and can start summer training,” explains Marco Rossi.
The national team is currently in the third of five weeks of preparation for the World Cup and will face the Czech Republic this week.
