The former top performer of the
Villacher SVMiha Verlič, has clarified his future in the DEL: The long-time Slovenian national player extended his contract with the
Fishtown Penguins
and will therefore remain with the German first division club next year.
Strong years in the EBEL / ICEHL
Verlič made a name for himself especially in that time
EBEL (today ICEHL) a name. After his first steps at Olimpija Ljubljana and the Graz99ers, he developed into a permanent fixture at Villacher SV at the latest.
Between 2015 and 2018, the tall attacker was an important part of the offensive in Villach. The 2016/17 season is particularly noteworthy, in which he was one of the Carinthians’ top players with 21 goals and a total of 32 points. In the following seasons he constantly confirmed his qualities as a reliable two-way striker.
The step abroad
After his successful time in Austria, Verlič took the next career step in 2018. A short detour to Finland to JYP led him to the DEL to the Fischtown Pinguins.
There he quickly established himself as an important part of the team. In Bremerhaven he impressed over several years with his consistent scoring values and his versatility – both as a center and on the wing.

In recent seasons, Verlič continued to show solid performances. He also had a strong 33 points in 52 games in the 2025/26 season, underlining his value to the team. The renewed contract extension is therefore no surprise.
