In the “Best-of-7” semi-final series between KHL Sisak and HC Meran/o Pircher there will be a big showdown on Thursday. In the decisive duel for a place in the final, the Croatians enjoy home advantage – they have won two of the previous three games in front of their own fans. It is the eighth time in the history of the Alps Hockey League that a series has lasted seven games.
With a 4-3 home win, Meran forced an equalizer in the semi-final series on Tuesday. The last three matches were each decided by just one goal difference, twice only in extra time. At the start of the series, Meran triumphed 4:2 in Sisak before the Croatians won their next two home games (10:3 and 4:3 OT).
It is the eighth time in the history of the Alps Hockey League that a series has lasted seven games. For Meran, the only Game 7 so far was not a success story: in last year’s quarter-finals they were clearly defeated by Ritten 2:7. Reaching the final would be a first for both Sisak and the South Tyroleans.
