The Alps Hockey League semi-final newcomers HC Gherdeina valgardena.it and KHL Sisak have the first chance to make their first final appearance perfect on Tuesday. Val Gardena is ahead 3-2 against defending champions EK Die Zeller Eisbären and has home advantage on Tuesday, while Sisak is in action at HC Meran/o Pircher and is aiming for his fourth win.
On Saturday, Val Gardena celebrated a 4:3 away win after extra time in Zell am See – they only managed to equalize 3:3 70 seconds before the end of the third period – giving the South Tyroleans their first away win of the series. So the “Furie” has the first chance to make it to the final for the first time on Tuesday in front of their home crowd. They have won the previous home games in the series 5-0 and 2-1.
Sisak is also 3-2 ahead in their semi-final series and only needs one win to reach the final for the first time in just his second season in the league. Unlike in the other series, Meran can force the series into a playoff in front of its home crowd. On Saturday, Sisak celebrated a narrow 4-3 home win after overtime. They were still down 2-3 until 52 seconds before the end of the final third. In Merano, Sisak won the first game 4-1, followed by a 2-3 defeat after extra time.
