385-time ICE veteran wants to continue his career!

At 36 years old, he is one of the experienced cracks in the entire win2day ICE Hockey League. But the long-running favorite hasn’t had enough yet and can definitely imagine continuing his career.

Rok Ticar made his debut in the then Erste Bank Ice Hockey League in 2009 when he played for HK Jesenice. The Slovenian subsequently put on the jersey of the Krefeld Pinguine, the Kölner Haie, Slovan Bratislava, Automobilist Jekaterinburg, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, Sibir Novosibirsk, Kunlun Red Star, and the IK Osharskamn – then the comeback in the multinational ICEHL followed.

Comeback in the ICEHL

In the 2019/20 season, Ticar played in nine games for the KAC and was supposed to stay at Lake Wörthersee until 2023 and be crowned champions with the red jackets. This was followed by a stint with the Vienna Capitals, and a year later with the Graz99ers before he joined HC Falkensteiner Pustertal last summer.

The Slovenian national team crack visibly feels comfortable there and scored 37 points in 47 games. The Bruneckers’ second oldest crack – Jonathon Blum is a year older – ended the internal scoring race in third place. Only Henry Bowlby (43) and Cole Bardreau (39) were ahead of the veteran in the end.

End of career still a long way off?

Opposite “sportnews.bzTicar now announced that he would like to continue his career: “I feel fit and am enjoying ice hockey more than I have for a long time. In Bruneck I have found a model club and an exceptional team, which is why I would like to stay in Pustertal. If I stay healthy, I can well imagine hanging on for a few more years.” The contract of the left-handed shooter, who has already played 385 ICE season games, expires after the current season – but the end of his career is obviously still a long way off.

Today Ticar and his teammates go into the second game of the semi-final series against Olimpija Ljubljana. After a 3-0 home win, the wolves from Bruneck could already make it 2-0 in the Slovenian capital.
