Russa 7 Switzerland 4
The Swiss tried to build off of beating Denmark the previous day to upset the favored Russians, but ultimately ran out of gas in a high-scoring affair.
Switzerland scored twice in the first 9:06 of game play, but the mighty Russians got one back. Red Deer Rebels defenseman Alexander Alexeyev had an assist on that marker. That made the score 2-1 Switzerland after 20 minutes.
The final 40 minutes would see eight more goals. Russia scored twice and Switzerland once in the second, but then Alexeyev’s squad pulled away.
He netted his first goal of the tournament, giving his team a 5-3 lead. The goal would end up being the game winner as Russia scored twice more for a 7-4 win.

The Russians are tied atop Group A with Canada. Tomorrow’s contest between the two will decide the winner and top seed out of Group A.
Switzerland finishes group play 1-2-1. They avoid relegation and if the Czechs lose to Denmark, they will be the three seed in Group A. If the Czechs win, they will be the four seed and take on the winner of Group B (likely Sweden).
