Daily Dose of the DUB: Raiders loan Protas to Dinamo Minsk and alumni signings overseas

 

Protas loaned to Dinamo Minsk

Protas (119GP, 42G, 78A with Prince Albert) has been loaned to the KHL’s Dinamo Minsk by the Raiders with permission from the Washington Capitals. In a story from PANow.com, Prince Albert Raiders General Manager Curtis Hunt said, “We’ve loaned him with the blessing of the Washington Capitals [who he is signed with], he’s going to join Dinamo Minsk in his hometown which is a great opportunity for him. He’ll be playing with the men in the KHL.” Protas will be attending Washington Capitals training camp, and either make the NHL team’s roster or be returned to the Raiders in November.

Raedeke returns to Iserlohn Roosters

Brent Raedeke (214GP, 58G, 84A with Edmonton and Brandon) has returned to the Iserlohn Roosters of the DEL following five seasons with Adler Manheim. Last season Raedeke scored five goals and added two assists in 36 games. The now 30-year-old suited up for the Wheat Kings in the 2010 Memorial Cup, scoring once in five games. He is a one-time DEL champion.

Colin Smith joins Krefeld Pinguine of the DEL

Colin Smith (272GP, 102G, 169A, with Kamloops 08-13) has signed a contract with the Krefeld Pinguine of the DEL. It will be his fourth team in three seasons in the DEL, spending last season split between ERC Ingolstadt and Kolner Haie. In 50 games he scored four goals and added 11 assists. The former seventh-round pick of the Colorado Avalanche has now played seven seasons professionally in North America and Europe.

Makarov moves to Slovakia

Andrei Makarov (115GP, 66-38-3-4, 2.80GAA, .916sv% with Saskatoon) has signed with HC Slovan Bratislava of Slovakia’s top professional league. The move follows five seasons split between the KHL and VHL, Russia’s top two professional leagues. To his credit, Makarov has a silver and bronze medal from the IIHF World Junior Championships.
