World Junior Summer Showcase: Day five

(DUBNetwork is out at the World Junior Summer Showcase today and will bring you full coverage of the goings on). Yesterday, USA edged Finland 2-1 & Canada scored a 4-1 win over Sweden.

Late in the second, with 48 seconds left in the period, Halifax’s (QMJHL) Jared Mcisaac snuck a wrister from the point past the Swedish Goalie Olle Eriksson Ek giving Canada the lead 1-0. Assists on the play went to WHL’ers Jett Woo (Moose Jaw) and Connor Dewar (Everett).

Less than 16 seconds later Swedish forward Marcus Sylvegard scored on a funny bounce to tie the game at one. Then, with two seconds left in the period Canada’s Alex Formenton stormed down the left wing and deposited the biscuit into the top right corner with a primary assist to Ty Smith (Spokane).

Canada would score twice in the third to to take the win with a final score of 4-1.

Saturday, August 4th, is the final day of the showcase with Canada taking on USA at 2PM PDT and Sweden playing Finland at 5PM PDT.
