Winterhawks add goalie Evan Fradette to roster

The Portland Winterhawks announced Thursday signed goalie Evan Fradette has been added to the roster. Fradette, a 2001 birth-year selected by Portland in the 5th round in the 2016 Bantam Draft, joined the team on their eastern road trip.

For the time being, the Winterhawks will carry three goalies on their roster.

As of Thursday afternoon, the team has not committed to which goalie will start or backup the game on Friday against Swift Current.

Through ten games this season, Fradette, the St. Albert, Alberta native posted a 2.26 goals against average with a .921 save percentage.

Last season, Fradette had the highest save percentage in the Alberta Midget Hockey League with .925.

Fradette and his St. Albert Raiders Midget team recently won the Mac’s tournament in Calgary. According to the St. Albert Raiders’ twitter account, the Winterhawks’ goalie picked up several accolades at the tournament including: 1st team all star goaltender, Top goaltender, and Macs tournament MVP.

So far, with seven days remaining before the January 10th trade deadline, the Winterhawks have remained relatively quiet.
