There has been 873 shootouts in WHL history.
The first year there were 94 shootouts, the most in one season.
Before switching to 3-on-3 overtime last season the WHL averaged 78 shootouts a season.
Last year there 43 and this year they were 50.
The numbers show that 3-on-3 overtime has greatly reduced the number of shootouts.

15-16 – 68.4% won in OT.
16-17 – 65% won in OT, 35% in shootout.

– Most SO losses in one season 06-07 Seattle with 11, they had zero SO wins
– Most SO games in one season 05-06 Prince Albert with 16, had a record of 6 wins 10 losses
