Everett Silvertips Notebook: OT loss to the ICE and 4th win over Spokane

The Everett Silvertips (14-4-1-0) had their four-game winning streak snapped on Friday night at the hands of the visiting Winnipeg ICE, but they bounced back and won their 10th game in their last 12 contests with yet another victory over the Spokane Chiefs. The ‘Tips have also achieved at least a point in 11 of their last 12 games and still sit atop the U.S. Division. They are two points up on the Portland Winterhawks with a game in hand.

Let’s take a look at the games:

Winnipeg 5 @ Everett 4 (OT)

The ICE jumped all over the ‘Tips with two goals just over five minutes into the game. Cole Muir and Logan Danis were the goal scorers.

Everett roared back with two goals of their own off the sticks of Jackson Berezowski and Max Patterson to send the game to its first intermission tied at two.

Brendan Lee and Michal Gut put Everett up 4-2, and the Silvertips seemed prime to hold off the visiting East Division squad.

Instead, Keegan Karki, who was getting his fourth start this season, was beaten by new ICE forward Jackson Leppard and import Nino Kinder.

Chase Hartje then netted the OT winner for Winnipeg.

Lee, Berezowski, and Gut all pitched in with two-point efforts.

Karki stopped 30-of-35 in the loss.

Both teams were 0-for-2 on the power play.

The Silvetips then rebounded the following evening with Dustin Wolf in net. The Calgary Flames prospect stopped all 22 shots he faced to snag his fourth shutout this season and 15th in his stellar WHL career.

Campbell Arnold was also solid in net on the other end. The only shot that beat him was a Wyatte Wylie power-play snipe in the second period.

Gianni Fairbrother then read a Filip Kral entry pass brilliantly and buried an empty-net goal.

Everett went 1-of-3 on the PP and 3-for-3 on the PK.
