Everett rebounds with two close wins

After losing to Kelowna, the Silvertips had two more road games this last week.

Bryce Kindopp netted two first period goals and import forward Michal Gut netted his first career WHL goal in a 3-2 win over the Blazers. Kindopp assisted on the Gut goal for three points on the night.

Dustin Wolf turned away 34-of-36 shots for the win.

The very next night in Spokane, the Silvertips ruined Spokane’s plan for a perfect three-in-three and instead marked a perfect weekend with a come-from-behind 4-3 road win.

Everett trailed 3-2 entering the third period, but jumped all over the Chiefs to score twice in the first 3:53 to win 4-3.

Brendan Lee and Kindopp provided the markers in the final frame.

First year, 19-year-old goalie Keegan Karki stopped 27-of-30 to get the win – his first in the WHL.

Kindopp and the newbies…

All the goals scored over the weekend were either the first ever by the scorer in the WHL or netted by Kindopp. The overage sniper and team captain, Kindopp moved within one point of Peter Mueller for 14th all time for the Silvertips in scoring.

He leads the league in scoring currently with seven goals and five assists for 12 points in five games after his back-to-back three point nights. He has been in on 12 of his team’s 16 total goals this season.

Gut, Lee and Jacob Wright all scored their first ever WHL goals this weekend.

Bear Tracks

-Gut was listed day-to-day in the latest weekly report. He returned with five points over the two games.

-Gut and defenseman Ronan Seeley were both rated as “C” prospects for the 2020 NHL Draft by NHL Central Scouting. This was on their players to watch list and reflects that they think they will be fourth, fifth or sixth round picks.

-Fairbrother returned vs Kamloops and had an assist in each of the two games.

-Tyson Phare played in both games after being acquired from Lethbridge and had one shot on goal.

-Gage Goncalves was scratched from Saturday’s win over Spokane. He was joined by Jackson Berezowski on the sidelines. Our own Jordan Bremner was at the game against Kamloops Saturday and noted Berezowski took a hard fall along the boards. He left and did not return.

-Those two joined Martin Fasko-Rudas on the outside of the lineup as the third-year import is still trying to come back from his upper body injury that has not allowed him to play a game yet this season. Another forward, Conrad Mitchell continues to be out as well. We will await the weekly report to see how long Berezowski and Goncalves will be out. Berezowski suffered an upper body injury in the preseason that caused him to miss time up until the start of the season.

-If Berezowski and Goncalves cannot got and Mitchell and Fasko-Rudas do not return, the Silvertips could be down to 11 healthy forwards.

-Jake Christiansen had an interesting week. He was released from his try out with the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage (St Louis Blues organization) but immediately placed on a try out with the Stockton Heat of the AHL (Calgary Flames organization). Christiansen was at Calgary’s camp as a 19-year-old.

He did not get into either Stockton game this weekend.
