Daily Dose of the Dub: Silvertips sign Goodbrandson; Scott scores for the Raiders

Everett inks forward Goodbrandson

-The Everett Silvertips announced on Thursday that they had signed 2003-born forward Nate Goodbrandson. The current Winnipeg Thrashers (MMHL) play-maker was drafted in the seventh round by Everett in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. According to the press release, he has 18 points in 17 games so far for the Thrashers. The six-foot, 160-pound forward is the fourth draft pick from 2018 to sign with Everett after defensemen Olen Zellweger and Ty Gibson and forward Carter Halamandaris.

  1. Ian Scott – The netminder not only stopped 23-of-24 shots from the visiting Tri-City Americans, he scored an empty-net-goal for the Prince Albert Raiders in their 3-1 win. They are now 19-1 this season.
  2. Joachim Blichfeld – The Danish winger netted his first WHL hat-trick and added an assist for four points in Portland’s 5-2 win over the visiting Everett Silvertips. He is now just three points behind Edmonton’s Trey Fix-Wolasnky for the WHL lead in points. He also leads the WHL in goals with 20 in 21 games.
  3. Ethan Anders – Turned away 28 shots from the Kelowna Rockets and his Red Deer Rebels blew out the Kelowna Rockets 7-0.

Honorable mentions:

Nolan Reid had two goals for the Spokane Chiefs as they won their third straight over the Seattle Thunderbirds this season 4-2… Milos Roman had two goals and an assist for three points and the Vancouver Giants dusted off the Regina Pats 10-4… Only four Giants did not hit the score sheet… Nick Henry had three goals and an assist for four points in the loss… Taylor Ross had a goal and an assist for Lethbridge and then notched the shootout winner as the Hurricanes sneaked past the Edmonton Oil Kings 3-2.. Jack McNaughton turned away 19 Kootenay ICE shots to notch his first career shutout as the Calgary Hitmen added to the woes for the Kootenay ICE 5-0… Ridly Greig had a goal and two assists for three points and the Brandon Wheat Kings pulled away from the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-1.
