Centazzo hit by Crossley

-Austin Crossley of the Prince George Cougars may be getting the attention of the WHL as his kneeing major with 9:17 left in the first period in Kamloops’ 4-3 OT preseason win Saturday, got him a game misconduct and seemed to leave Orrin Centazzo of the Kamloops Blazers injured. Centazzo did return to the game.

Crossley has yet to be suspended by the WHL so far.

Bellows and Quenneville on Islanders camp roster

-The final NHL team to announce their NHL main camp did so on Friday. The New York Islanders did not invite any WHL players to rookie camp and thus only 1998-born and signed prospects Kieffer Bellows and David Quenneville was on the main camp roster.

While both seem on their way to the AHL, they will be trying to impress and crack the team’s opening night roster. Both are technically still eligible to play in the WHL, though that is unlikely.

Links and notes:

-A couple of injuries in Chicago and Detroit could mean that Henri Jokiharju and Michael Rasmussen’s paths to spots on an NHL roster are easier ones. First, Connor Murphy is out with a back injury for two months for the Blackhawks, meaning a depleted Chicago blue line is even more short-staffed. Also, the retirement of Henrik Zetterberg in Detroit because of a back ailment, could mean that Rasmussen has a better shot at a position in Detroit’s forward group. Injuries is not how either one would like to find their way onto an NHL team, but it is the sad truth in hockey sometimes.

A good look at the durable Josh Curtis of the Prince George Cougars.

A somewhat unexpected connection between Elijah Brown and new Medicine Hat Tigers goalie Mads Sogaard.
