Kukuca invited to Slovakia’s camp

A stellar rookie season in the WHL for import forward Andrej Kukuca is getting even better as he has been invited to participate in Slovakia’s U20 World Junior Championships training camp. The 1999-born Kukuca will be trying to make the final Slovakian roster for the tournament which goes from December 26th to January 5th.

Kukuca has put up 17 points in 23 games so far this season. He was the 29th overall pick in the 2018 CHL Import Draft last summer.

Weekly Report Musings:

Calgary Hitmen – Goalie Carl Stankowski is listed as being out indefinitely with a lower body injury. This is especially concerning considering his medical condition that caused him to miss all of last season affects this area of the body.

Kootenay ICEConnor McClennon, who took a tough tumble to the ice last weekend, is listed as being out 4-to-6 weeks with lower body injury. He joins forwards Peyton Krebs and Cameron Hausinger and Valtteri Kakkonen on the sideline. The ICE have called up forwards James Form and Skyler Bruce to help out.

Seattle Thunderbirds – Crowded injury list with Payton Mount going back on and joining Noah Philp, Jarret Tyszka, Brecon Wood and Owen Williams.

Three stars of the night:

  1. Davis Koch (Vancouver) – Two goals and an assist for three points and his Vancouver Giants bounced back from being down 3-1 to the Saskatoon Blades after 20 minutes, to win 5-3.
  2. Sergei Sapego (Prince Albert) – Three assists for the defenseman and the Raiders got revenge on the only team that has beaten them this season – the Red Deer Rebels 4-3. P.A. is now 24-1 and has a 16 point lead in the East Division. They have won 17 straight games.
  3. Beck Warm (Tri-City) – The netminder stopped 39-of-41 shots the Prince George Cougars fired on him, to lead Tri-City to a 5-2 win.

Honorable mention:

Brett Leason scored again and added an assist. His point streak now goes to 25 games.
