WHL People’s Power Ranking: December 12th, 2018

After a short absence, the WHL People’s Power Rankings Returns! There is not a lot of movement in the top half of the Western Conference. Prince Albert and Everett are still your number ones! The Moose Jaw Warriors are your biggest mover this time around, they are playing some excellent hockey heading into the final week before the teams take off for the Holiday Break.

Updated 12/12/2018

Eastern Conference

0 Prince Albert Raiders

Couple of recent hiccups shows they're human. Still far and away the best team in the CHL, nevermind the WHL

2 Saskatoon Blades

Were 3-1-1-0 on BC road trip AND knocked off the Raiders in regulation, opening some eyes... again!

-1 Red Deer Rebels

Best of the rest, things are tightening up though

4 Moose Jaw Warriors

Curious to see how they respond without head coach Tim Hunter. Could also lose out on Brook for the WJC!

-2 Edmonton Oil Kings

Up and down team, leaning heavily on Trey Fix-Wolansky

0 Lethbridge Hurricanes

Made a big move recently, still having trouble keeping the puck out of their own net.

-2 Brandon Wheat Kings

Slowed by back-to-back home-and-home losses to Prince Albert, are they deadline buyers or sellers?

-1 Medicine Hat Tigers

Team keeps on teetering around that .500 mark, missing the playoffs hasn't been an option in "The Hat" for a long time.

1 Calgary Hitmen

Four straight wins has the team knocking on the door of the playoffs. Time will tell if this is the real Hitmen.

1 Kootenay Ice

Long losing streak appears tied to talk of franchise moving, sad state of the team in a "lame duck" situation.

-2 Regina Pats

Sold off Leschyshyn, Henry and Hyman, more to come?

0 Swift Current Broncos

Beating the Raiders in a shootout is the highlight of their season. Hofer and Poulter are providing heroic goaltending for the Broncos.

Western Conference

0 Everett Silvertips

Far and away the class of the West, lead the conference by 7 points, their division by 13

0 Vancouver Giants

12 point lead over the Rockets for first in the division. Stingy goaltending tandem leads the way.

0 Portland Winterhawks

In a division that is struggling behind Everett, the Winterhawks are playing decently enough of late.

0 Tri-City Americans

Have played less games than those ahead of them, looking to use the Christmas break to refresh and get things rolling

0 Spokane Chiefs

Another US division team stumbling and bumbling their way through December.

3 Kelowna Rockets

Much improved with the addition of Adam Foote as head coach, surged to 2nd in the BC division.

-1 Victoria Royals

Least amount of games played in the WHL, struggling since their amazing start.

2 Kamloops Blazers

Progress was being made but now hold a slim lead for the final playoff spot in the conference.

-1 Seattle Thunderbirds

Injuries were playing a role in their recent stumble. Should see a boost with Tyszka back in the lineup

-3 Prince George Cougars

Can not seem to get it together, have given up the second most goals while scoring the least in the conference.
