Raiders keep ahead of Blades with 4-2 win over Oil Kings

Prince Albert 4 Edmonton 2

The Saskatoon Blades may not get the chance to catch the Prince Albert Raiders (30-25-9-2). The Raiders notched a 4-2 win at home vs the Edmonton Oil Kings (19-40-6-2) for their seventh straight win.

This kept them four points ahead of the Blades for the second wild card spot and four points behind the Brandon Wheat Kings for the first wild card spot and a date with the Central Division champion.

All three teams have six games left. The Raiders play against Moose Jaw and Calgary this weekend, while Saskatoon takes on Calgary and Brandon and the Wheat Kings host Swift Current, battle the Blades and then head to Moose Jaw Sunday.

Cole Fonstad had two assists on Wednesday and Max Martin netted the game winner.

The Raiders had to overcome a 2-1 deficit after 20 thanks to goals from David Kope and Colton Kehler.

P.A. got their first period marker from Regna Nagy.

Curtis Miske tied things up with a goal 1:22 into the second and then Martin got the Raiders ahead for good with a marker just 14 seconds later.

Parker Kelly put home his 28th this year to provide some insurance with 6:39 left.

Ian Scott stopped 13 of 15 for Prince Albert and Josh Dechaine turned away 26 of 30.

The Oil Kings head to Medicine Hat for a game on Friday.
