Before the 2019-20 season starts, I’ll be taking a look at the Silvertips’ roster and breaking down some key points that will certainly be a topic of discussion as the off-season trickles away and training camp begins.
The Silvertips have seemingly solidified their import situation for the upcoming season. Martin Fasko-Rudas (Slovakia) will be returning to the lineup for his third season. Everett also selected forward Michal Gut (Czech Republic) in this summer’s CHL Import Draft. Gut signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement towards the end of July, poising him to join the team at training camp in a few weeks.
Here’s a look at the two European forwards that will be looking to make an impact next season.
Martin Fasko-Rudas has been a solid forward for Everett for the last two seasons. When he hits the ice for the regular season, Martin will become one of only six Everett import players to play for the team for three seasons or more, out of a list of 21 all-time imports. He joins the ranks of players like Rasmus Risannen (2009-2011), Mirco Mueller (2012-2014), and Ivan Baranka (2003-2005), who all moved on to the NHL.
The Slovakian-born forward scored a few very memorable goals last season. He scored his first career WHL hat trick on March 16 against Victoria. The most memorable was netting the teddy bear toss goal against Seattle in front of a sold-out crowd in Everett. Former Everett Herald Silvertips beat writer Nick Patterson captured it on video:

Gut was drafted by Everett this summer in the CHL Import Draft. The Czech Republic-native has quite the offensive history. In his last season with the Pirati Chomutov U19 team, he scored 34 points in 33 games. He also has had a very successful summer, suiting up for his country on the international stage. The 17-year-old netted 18 points in 25 games on the U18 national team, making him the second-highest scoring player on the roster. He also has been making waves in his summer contests, as seen in this video from the Silvertips’ Twitter:

The 2002-born forward will no doubt bring an offensive charge to the Silvertips. As forwards Riley Sutter and Connor Dewar depart, Everett will have some gaps to fill in terms of goal scoring. According to his track record, Gut can fill in those gaps perfectly. And, with Fasko-Rudas by his side, the two have the potential to be explosive offensive producers.
