-As expected the rookie race was wide open with our 15 picks split between nine different players. Connor McClennon of the Kootenay ICE was mentioned by two differnet people and Jake Neighbours had five of our contributors picks him.
-Ian Scott of the Prince Albert Raiders was not surprisingly the favorite among goalies this year with five contributors thinking he will take the crown Carter Hart wore three straight times. Griffen Outhouse of the Victoria Royals and Dylan Ferguson of the Kamloops Blazers also got some love.
-Ty Smith of the Spokane Chiefs is the overwhelming favorite in defensemen category with 12 of 15 calling on him to dominate the blue line. Calen Addison of the Lethbridge Hurricanes got a couple mentions as well.

-Jordy Bellerive of the Lethbridge Hurricanes is the favorite, if you ask our staff to score the most points in 2018-19. The 19-year-old had 46 goals and 46 assists for 92 points a season ago and if he is recovered from the injuries he took to his hands during a freak accident over the summer, he should be in the mix at the top of the points standings.
Stelio Mattheos of the Brandon Wheat Kings, Cody Glass of the Portland Winterhawks and Jaret Anderson-Dolan of the Spokane Chiefs should also be in the mix.
MVP is also Bellerive’s to lose according to our contributors. The feel-good story of him leading the Hurricanes to success after the accident would be hard for any voters to pass on. Also, his stats and play should give him an argument for the award anyways.
Mattheos, Anderson-Dolan and Glass are in the mix for that as well.
Glen Erickson believes that Ty Smith will be the first defenseman since Karl Alzner of the Calgary Hitmen in 2007-08 to take home the MVP award.
