The biggest name heading back to the WHL on Thursday was Portland Winterhawks winger Joachim Blichfeld. The San Jose Sharks made the surprising cut in time for the start of the WHL season, where the 20-year Dane will look to build on his point-per-game 2017-18 campaign.
Portland now has four overage players and three imports. They have two weeks to make some decisions.
Prince Albert Raiders winger Noah Gregor and Spokane Chiefs’ winger McGrew (unsigned) both survived this round of Sharks cuts, and will remain in camp for now.
