Blazers Hire Lajoie; Zary, Stuart & Loewen Headed to Camps

On Monday, June 25th the quest to replace Don Hay ended, General Manager Matt Bardsley had found his guy. Serge Lajoie, 49, spent the last 3 seasons with Usports’ Alberta Golden Bears, winning the Usports national championship in the 2017-18 season. The Bonnyville, Alta. native will be looking to put his stamp on the Blazers as soon as possible.

Lajoie has been called to Hockey Canada twice in his career. He served as an Assistant Coach at the 2015 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge and as an Assistant Coach at the 2016 Under-18 World Championships.

Kamloops’ new bench boss believes in an up tempo and exciting style of play, something that should not only be successful with how the Blazers are built, but will also be well received within the community.

Blazers Forward Jermaine Loewen was selected in the 7th Round (199th overall) of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Dallas Stars. The 20-year-old is currently in Dallas for their Prospect Camp.

Teammates Brodi Stuart (17) and Connor Zary (16) will also head to summer camps. Stuart is jet setting to Pittsburgh for Penguins development camp, while Zary will join other CHL hopefuls at the Team Canada Hlinka Gretzky selection camp at the end of July.
