A look at the 2019-2020 Seattle Thunderbirds regular season schedule.

On Wednesday, the Seattle Thunderbirds announced their 2019-2020 regular season schedule.

Seattle’s home opener will come on Saturday, September 21st against the Kamloops Blazers at 6:05 PM at the Accesso ShoWare Center in Kent. They won’t play again until the following Friday, where they play host to their division rivals, the Tri-City Americans.

Some more highlights in the schedule include a season-long homestand of four straight games in the friendly confines of the “Sho” between Friday, November 8th and Tuesday, November 19th. The annual Eastern Conference road trip has been split into two separate trips, which has not been the case in years prior.

Seattle begins the first leg of their Central Division tour in Red Deer on Friday, October 25th and will visit Edmonton and Calgary the following Saturday and Monday, respectively. To close out the first road trip Seattle will visit Tri-Cities and Portland, ending the first trip on Saturday, November 2nd. This meeting with Portland will be the first meeting between the two long-time division rivals.

The second road trip will start with the annual New Year’s Eve game in Portland on December 31st and continue into Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, and Swift Current, ending in Tri-Cities on Friday, January 10th.

Other key highlights of the regular season include; five weekends in which the Thunderbirds will play three games in three nights, 12 meetings with the Portland Winterhawks, 10 meetings with the Everett Silvertips and 12 combined meetings with Tri-Cities and Spokane. On Tuesday, October 22nd Seattle will play host to the defending Ed Chynoweth Cup Champions, the Prince Albert Raiders. On Tuesday, November 19th, Seattle fans may get a first look at the number one overall pick from the 2019 Bantam draft, Matthew Savoie, when the new Winnipeg ICE make their only trip through the U.S. Division this season.

Seattle will end the regular season schedule with a home-and-home set with the rival, Portland Winterhawks.
